Conflicted Analyses of Inequality : Why the Concern with Inequality?
In their presentation of the basic measures used by sociologists to describe social inequality in our social system, the authors of your textbook examines how inequality is structured in the U.S., and how social inequality is distributed both in the United States and globally. Under what circumstances might these measures not reveal social class boundary lines? That is how, according to the authors, might the conventional methods that sociologists use NOT be adequate to determine where one class begins and another ends? Essay 2) In the view of the authors of your text, what are the larger consequences of the patterns of inequality sociologists have identified both in the U.S.and in the world? Why do sociologists keep a close watch on levels of inequality in American society and elsewhere anyway? Why should they care about the phenomenon? Or perhaps sociologists are really not that concerned? NOTE Please use chapter 9 Global Stratification in Andersen Text 9th edition
