Miami University Aesthetic Media Techniques Project
Humanities
Project1
- Due Friday by 11:59pm
- Points 100
- Submitting a file upload
This project consists of two parts. (SEE below for video instruction) In the first part, you will be applying the aesthetic media techniques you have learned in each chapter by providing examples. Start taking photos with your digital camera or smartphone, and uploading them on powerpoint presentation (2 photos each per slide with) along with detailed descriptions of the photos.
Please see below the lists of techniques you need to include in your powerpoint presentation. You will need to take photos to represent the technique. Your photos must be original photos taken by you specifically for this project (you cannot use photos from the past). If you scoop the photo from Google Images or elsewhere, this will be considered plagiarizing – and will result in you failing the assignment entirely. Your assignment is to provide examples, just like the ones in the textbook photos, and write a short description under photo to describe how selected technique is used to communicate mood, feeling, emotional state, situation, ambience, etc. Do not duplicate any scene or object, take unique photo for each technique. In this first part, I would like to know whether or not you understood each technique and know how to apply them by practicing, and at the same time, I am looking to see if a select technique effectively communicates your intended meaning.
Part Two
This exercise requires more creativity and thoughts; in addition to learning how a certain technique can evokes emotion/thoughts/scene, now you will need to create a short storyline that connects from one scene to the next.
Choose min.10 techniques and create a short storyline. Consider it like a cartoon with description in each photo/technique. You need to take new photos for this. Here you need to show a short storyline to show how the technique is enhancing or assisting the storyline. Do not stress over creating a grand storyline or complicated ones, it can be as simple as, a child likes to play outdoor all day but the mom wants the child to come back home for dinner. Child is upset, etc. etc. (you can also have two photos each per slide, total 5 slides). Make sure your storyline is connected from one scene to another.
The photos should not be in high resolution to prevent delay in uploading, sometimes when it’s a large file, it can take a while to upload your project. Also, it will take a while for me to see your project on canvas. Your project should be uploaded in Microsoft Powerpoint.
Do not include cover page or break in between each slide.
